| Emergency Veterinarian – Midwest Bird & Exotic Animal Hospital Midwest Bird & Exotic Animal Emergency Hospital, located in a suburb of Chicago, IL, is looking for an Emergency Veterinarian (DVM) to join our team. We are a full-service veterinary emergency and critical care facility that treats dogs, cats and exotic pets. Exotics are our exclusive specialty by day, but our after-hours emergency practice is open for dogs and cats too. In this role, you would be the Veterinarian responsible for our emergency hours from 7pm until 8am, three days a week. You would primarily be providing Emergency and Critical Care to our companion animals in addition to exotics. Emergency experience is required, but experience with exotics is not necessary and exotic animal mentorship is available, if needed. About the hospital: - Four exam rooms

- Complete in house Hematological and Chemistry analysis, in house Electrolyte, Blood Gas and Clotting analysis, DNA Sexing, Cultures, Gram Stain, Cytology, Histopathology, Infectious Disease Testing, Urine and Fecal Analysis, External Parasite Checks
- Paper light computerized medical records and invoicing

Job Responsibilities: - Builds rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to, and empathizing with their concerns
- Communicates with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventive health care, and nutritional needs.
- Candidate must have the experience and confidence to handle a busy caseload while providing exceptional customer service and the highest level of medicine.
- Our emergency department veterinarians are responsible for outpatient case care, emergency case triage, and monitoring hospitalized ER and specialty patients overnight. This position requires a candidate to possess and exhibit maturity and a high level of integrity.
- Triage multiple patients at once, focus on client education, have the skills to perform emergency procedures and surgery, and be confident in interpretation of diagnostic imaging and laboratory results
- Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records and makes certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols.
- Assists in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
