Four Seasons Animal Hospital, a full service veterinary hospital in Winfield, Indiana, is seeking a full time associate veterinarian to join our caring, and hardworking team.

The ideal candidate would be friendly, compassionate , and motivated to care for pets and people. A good sense of humor with a high level of professionalism would be optimal. Diagnostic experience with ultrasound and good surgical skills would be a plus, but the freedom to pursue your niche in veterinary medicine is encouraged.

About Four Seasons Animal Hospital: Our three doctor hospital has provided veterinary care for the growing Winfield area of Crown Point, Indiana for 35 years. We offer a variety of services including surgery, dentistry, therapeutic laser, and up to date diagnostics. While we primarily focus on cats and dogs, we have a growing exotic clientele. Our recently remodeled hospital includes 5 exam rooms, an IDEXX in house lab, digital radiology, ECG, tonometry, therapeutic laser, and blood pressure unit.

We are conveniently located 45 minutes away from downtown Chicago, and are a stone’s throw from Lake Michigan giving us the benefits of being near a large city without the hassles.

We offer flexible scheduling to allow for quality of life, while after hour emergencies are handled by nearby emergency clinics. We believe that a good balance of work and personal time is needed for a healthy mind and body.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• The ideal candidate should have experience as a Veterinarian, Associate Veterinarian, or experienced in animal care with proper licensing.

• A new grad veterinarian welcome to apply.

• Provides compassionate care to patients.

• Works with Medical Director to set practice medical policies and procedures; performs all duties in accordance with them.

• Plans and carries out a significant program of personal medical continuing education.

• Is active in professional organizations and community activities.

• Communicates objectives, motivates staff, builds and maintains morale; maintains core values and standards.

• Helps to develop new programs and processes that meet clients’ changing needs.

• Sets an example for the staff in dealing with clients; promotes the concept of the client-centered environment.

• Delivers in-house medical training to the support staff when asked to do so.

• Promotes cooperative working environment among staff members; understands the value of teamwork; shows enthusiasm and willingness to perform as necessary to help the practice function as a unit.

• Performs physical examinations using preliminary date provided by the veterinary technicians; diagnoses physical condition and presents diagnostic and treatment alternatives to the client being sensitive to their emotional as well financial needs.

• Performs medical, surgical and dental procedures; provides emergency services in accordance with hospital standards of care.

• Prescribes medications in accordance with manufacturers label instructions and uses. Understands common side-effects and common drug interactions with other medications.

• Understands and carries out treatment orders from other veterinarians; makes necessary changes in treatment plan when diagnostic results support the decision to do so.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
