What we are looking for:

We are seeking a licensed veterinary technician to work nights and weekend hours in our equine and farm animal hospitals. This role requires an individual that is independent, self-motivated, has a team mindset, and interested in working in an innovative and challenging teaching environment that provides excellent care and training in all aspects of emergency and specialty care of horses and farm animals. You will work alongside our faculty clinicians, interns, residents, veterinary students as well as other staff throughout the hospital, providing optimal patient care for our animal patients and their owners.

What are the qualifications?

  • Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology and NYS licensure required, with at least 1 year experience working with a myriad of large animal species, preferably in an academic/clinical environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrix organizational environment, with limited guidance.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to apply excellent judgment in making decisions in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Effectively collaborates to produce well thought out and innovative solutions while challenging the status quo and providing a fresh perspective.
  • Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation to follow through on responsibilities and projects in a timely manner.
  • Candidate must have the ability to meet the physical demands of the position, which includes, but is not limited to, prolonged standing and kneeling, as well as lifting and restraining large animals, as well as the ability to jog horses multiple times daily;
  • Rabies vaccinations and titer required, and cost will be covered by department.

Additional Salary Information: Shift differentials are added for 2nd and 3rd shifts.
