Distinguished, independent, five doctor veterinary hospital in Ballard (a hip, waterside, neighborhood of Seattle) that practices quality, compassionate medicine. The Family Pet has a lot of personality and encourages laughing and singing, candy and caffeine. Our team is blessed to all get along (really!) and is constantly evolving with new ideas. The Family Pet is high tech and fully equipped on site with the latest models of, Computed Tomography, DR X-ray, Ultrasound, K laser, Radiosurgery, DR Dental X-ray, and Tonopen. We have complete in-house Idexx laboratory analysers. We are paperless and will teach you Ezyvet and Smartflow software. Theses newer software programs are more user friendly and have more functionality, such as text messaging, digital templetes (to avoid re-typing surgery and exam reports) images and dental charts that can be accessed from anywhere.
Although primarily small animal, we are fortunate to also see pet goats, mini pigs, chickens, guinea pigs and other small pets (they make practice more delightful!) We will help you learn these species if you desire. Each day you will be working with experienced vets in a positive team environment where you will get help if you need it. We will teach you dentistry and surgery skills you did not get in school, help you with procedures you haven’t done before. The Family Pet is a full service Veterinary Hospital located in the Ballard Neighborhood of Seattle for over 75 years. We provide high quality, compassionate care with an emphasis on treating each patient as an individual, getting a firm diagnosis and treating with the most successful therapy.
We provide services to dogs and cats as well as pocket pets at The Family Pet. Our Barnyard Pet Vet Division serves urban and rural livestock such as goats, miniature pigs and miniature donkeys.
Located on site is our NewTom Computed Tomography machine where we run CT scans on in-house and referral patients. We are well equipped with the newest models of GE ultrasound, Tonopen, DR dental radiography and high speed dental unit, whole body DR radiography, Elleman radio-surgical unit, cold laser therapy, latest in-house lab equipment and fully integrated electronic medical records using Ezyvet and Smartflow.
We have 5 veterinarians, 2 LVT's and over 20 lay staff providing 7 day a week veterinary care. The practice has been owned by Dr Carrie Schneider for 15 years.
