Center for Animal Rescue and Enrichment of St. Louis (CARE STL) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that serves as the no-kill open admission shelter dedicated to saving the unwanted, abused, neglected, and homeless companion animals of the City of St. Louis. We exist to create a supportive community rooted in collaboration, compassion, and caring, for people and animals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to perform approximately 15 spay/neuter surgeries per-day. Ability to perform other surgeries,dentals as
Ensures all animals receive appropriate and timely medical care. Works closely with other departments to make sure all animals' medical needs are met; prescribes medications as
Refer shelter animals to specialty or emergency clinics as needed.
Practices high quality shelter medicine; an emphasis is placed on problem solving throughphysical examinations and use of in house diagnostics when possible.
Maintains detailed medical records in Shelterluv; enters medical notes in a timely
Communicates with fosters, volunteers, and potential adopters when
Assesses the quality of life of shelter patients and performs medical euthanasias when
Provides input on behavioral euthanasia decisions and performs behavioral euthanasia when
Participates in community outreach events such as wellness clinics, microchip clinics, and public spay/neuter
Provide veterinary services to owned community animals as directed by VP: Operations
Delegates select Veterinary Technicians, as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned by the VP: Operations.
Qualifications:
Currently licensed in the state of Missouri to practice veterinary medicine. A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine(D.V.M. or V.M.D.) degree from an accredited college of veterinary medicine. Must be qualified and eligibleto obtain DEA license.

Center for Animal Rescue and Enrichment of St. Louis (CARE STL) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization serving as the official no-kill animal shelter partner for the City of St. Louis Animal Care and Control. We are a no-kill open admission animal shelter that takes care of abandoned, stray, neglected, abused and surrendered pets while we find them a loving home. We work with a network of community partners, business sponsors, adopters, donors, and volunteers to advocate for animal welfare. In 2021 we intaked 2,300 cats and dogs, adopted 1,411 into loving homes, and found foster homes for 660 of them.
