We are looking for a motivated Senior Training and Surgical Research Specialist to join the Velocigene team. The Senior Training and Surgical Research Specialist will assist the Veterinary Services department in providing timely surgical and hands-on rodent training to researchers and animal care staff at Regeneron. They will also assist in keeping Regeneron inspection-ready by monitoring animal welfare, maintaining complete and thorough training records and ensuring procedures and surgeries are being performed correctly and in alignment with IACUC protocols.
In this role, a typical day may include:
Overseeing training programs (Introductory, Refresher, Surgery/Aseptic Technique)
Learning and performing common surgeries at Regeneron
Conducting Post Approval Monitoring audits
Scheduling, coordinating and providing training sessions for handling and restraint, technical procedures, aseptic technique, surgical procedures, recovery, post-operative checks
Conducting proficiency assessments
Maintaining training documentation and records
Ordering materials and supplies for training
Communicating training session results
Researching and presenting novel trainings
Assisting with guideline and SOP development and review

To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of an Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field and at least of 5 years of laboratory animal experience, a minimum of 3 years of that experience with rodents. We are also looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years of previous exposure, experience and proficiency with rodent surgery, anesthesia, analgesia, euthanasia and necropsy. We need someone with their LATG (SRS or surgical certification preferred.) You should be proficient in common blood collection and injection techniques. We need someone with at least 2 years’ experience training and developing others. Knowledge of protocols, IACUC processes, post approval monitoring, database usage, policies and guidelines, state and federal regulations is a must.
