Overton Veterinary Hospital, PC (d.b.a. Irby-Overton Veterinary Hospital) was established in 1992, when Dr Beth Griffin-Overton (Auburn 1988) purchased Dr L.E. Irby's practice which he established in the 1940's. Our practice is a very well known and respected veterinary hospital in the Mobile, Alabama area.
Great Oaks Veterinary Hospital was established in 1997 in a shopping center leasehold. We quickly outgrew the space and moved to a freestanding location in 2009.

Our Hospitals:
We have two full service locations 8 miles from each other. The Schillinger Road location is approx. 7000 sq.ft. The Snow Road location is approx. 2800 sq.ft. Both locations are AAHA accredited. We enjoy an excellent work flow at both locations with the pharmacy and lab areas being in close proximity to the exam rooms. There is a dedicated surgical prep area outside of surgery. Surgery is in close proximity to the X-Ray room. Both locations have a fully stocked Isolation with exam tables and foot baths. Isolation and Kennel areas have separate HVAC units.
"The thing I love about Dr Beth's hospitals is there is no smell" Troy Baker-Client
Our Equipment:
Both locations have heated V-Top surgery tables, Oxygen Cage units, surgical monitoring equipment, fluid pumps, injection syringes, EKG machines, doppler blood pressure measurement units, tonopens, in-house Idexx laboratories, therapy lasers, Bair Huggers to prevent post-op hypothermia, digital radiology and ultrasound machines.
The larger Schillinger Road location is where we perform our orthopedic procedures and we have fracture plating equipment and equipment to perform extra-capsular ACL repair. We have a surgical laser which aids in the reduction of surgical pain and hemorrhage at this location as well as a Ligashure vessel sealing system. We use an incubator here to warm and provide oxygen to our newborn puppies and kittens. We perform TCI's using a Karl Storz endoscopy unit. This unit also allows us to perform Rhinoscopy as well as scope the stomach, upper GI and descending colon. We have video otoscopes in each exam room which allows clients to see what we see.
We also have a dental X-Ray unit which is currently at our Great Oaks location
