GREAT LOCATION- Live In the “Queen” City - This city is celebrated as a great community for young professionals. Lots of local events, professional sports teams, art and music all are available within minutes of the practice. Lake Wylie is in our neighborhood, Lake Norman is a few miles away and a short drive will get you to the beach or the mountains. Known as a “green” city, you will find miles of hiking trails, many parks, and even can go white water rafting inside the US National Whitewater Rafting Center. If you like racing, NASCAR is in your back yard. Charlotte is the second largest banking center in the US trailing only NY in assets which allows for an affluent community with many opportunities for job seekers. It is also the pimento cheese capitol of the world. Everyone needs a FUN FACT about their town and that one is ours!
HIGH STANDARDS OF CARE (many say it, we really do it) Established in 1985, this vibrant practice is independently owned and continues to grow and flourish. If you are looking to escape or avoid the consolidator or corporate practice world this is a great practice to join. Compassion and care for our clients, patients and each other has been part of our mission since the beginning and has enabled us to maintain long term team members and relationships over generations with our clients. Dr. Young has been an AAHA member since the practice began and we follow those guidelines and standards. We are Silver Cat Friendly and practice low stress handling techniques with several of our veterinarians being Fear Free Certified.
REHAB – YES PLEASE! If you are interested in animal rehabilitation or would like to practice where this service is offered as a supportive care option, Steele Creek Animal Hospital has you covered. We just completed a 2000sq ft addition that offers underwater treadmills, shockwave, therapy laser, acupuncture, therapeutic ultrasound, manual therapy, thermography and more. Advance your skills under Dr. Young’s mentorship or just take advantage of the availability for your patients. Dr. Young has been offering advanced rehabilitation services since 2005 and veterinary hospitals all over the area send patients to our team after surgery or sports injuries for rehabilitative care.
HELPING YOU GROW: Of course, the rest of the hospital is equally awesome. We invest in team development and offer continuing education, in house, online and in person to all members of our staff. Our team meetings often are learning games to make it fun. We utilize a formal mentorship program, MentorVet, for our new grads up to two years out associates. There is a formal on-boarding plan that not only will guide you to the best location for your home, a good school district and even where to find a pen(or the bathroom) in the practice but will also start celebrating your arrival and introduce you to our clients weeks before you arrive.
TOOLS TO BE SUCCESSFUL: Our equipment is everything you would expect in a superior practice. Digital radiographs, dental radiographs, dedicated dental suite, tonopen, ultrasound, therapy laser, in house lab, blood pressure monitoring, digital patient monitoring during surgery, and much more.
TALENTED TEAM: Our support team includes multiple RVTs and highly experienced assistants to help you care for your patients. Many of our techs have special rehab training and manage care for our patients. We do take technician appointments and leverage their skills to the fullest.
IDEA EXCHANGE: Our doctors love working here and none plan on leaving, but they look forward to welcoming and mentoring a new colleague to be able to better serve the animals of our community. They also hope to learn from you! Ideas are freely shared here. Our plan is to utilize MentorVet for new graduate support.
SCHEDULE The work schedule is reasonable and weekends are rotated. Emergencies are handled by the local ER/specialty hospital. Good communication and customer service skills are a must as this hospital takes great pride in client education and being able to show value for our work.
HELPING OTHERS By the way, serving our community has always been important to Dr. Young and Steele Creek Animal Hospital. We work with rescues, sponsor a Boy Scout Explorer post, visit schools to educate students about vet med and animal care and participate in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system internship program.
