Route 66 Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Center is looking for an Daytime Emergency Clinician that can help create positive change in people’s lives through compassionate care for their pets. While working as part of our dynamic team you will provide quality veterinary care to our patients.
Who we are:
Our amazing team of caregivers are a positive group of people who create an atmosphere of calm even while dealing with the stress of emergency veterinary medicine. Route 66 Vet was created to provide a different experience for clients and employees alike. We aim to give back to our community by providing people with a caring compassionate atmosphere to bring their pets in a time of need. Our practice is expanding as the city of Albuquerque has embraced our hospital and has chosen it as the place for veterinary emergencies. We are expanding our talented team so we can care for our patients and clients while upholding our high customer service and exceptional medical standards.
Why New Mexico:
The Route 66 Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Center is in the trendy Nob Hill neighborhood close to both the University of New Mexico and Sandia National Laboratory. Albuquerque is a growing city that has an abundance of sunshine. Nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains we enjoy all 4 seasons with none of the sticky triple digit heated summer days. Albuquerque winters are mild yet sometimes we see a little snow. Mountain biking, hiking and world class skiing will be in your back yard! Enjoy the many cultural festivals, such as International Ballon Fiesta, Zozobra, Indian and Spanish Market and fiestas. Culture is what New Mexico is about. Come and learn about the rich history created by the Native Pueblo groups and Spanish Conquistadors.
New Building:
Our state-of-the-art, AAHA accredited, facility features digital radiology, endoscopy, advanced patient monitoring, telemetry, ultrasound, ligasure, fully equipped laboratory and entirely electronic medical records. Our new facility completed in November 2021 will allow us to care for more patients while allowing our veterinarians to have the space to comfortably practice.
Amazing Staff:
Our technical staff are composed of mainly registered veterinary technicians and assistants with years of emergency experience. Keeping a staffed hospital where our clients are cared for and our veterinarians are supported is extremely important to us. Our vets enjoy a three tech to one doctor ratio. We have a full time Veterinary Social Worker on staff to help support our staff emotionally as well as our clients.
Continuing Education:
Route 66 VECCC is a teaching hospital. We welcome students of all disciplines. Whether you are a GP who is looking to explore Emergency Medicine or a new grad who wants the guidance of a formal teaching program we can provide that to you. Our Vets collaborate together always, whether it is journal club, morbidity and mortality rounds, and even one on one training to learn new techniques and skills. Our Medical Directors are available to help guide and support every clinician we employ. We even offer a formal Intern program as well as a fast-paced ER immerse style training program for new grads.

We are looking for and enthusiastic, personable Veterinarian! Someone who can handle the medical aspects of the job while delivering compassion and care to our patients and clients.
