Metropolitan Veterinary Center, located in the South Loop of Chicago, Illinois,is looking for a veterinarian to join our amazing team! We are proud to be AAHA accredited, AAFP cat friendly, and have won 'Best Vets in Chicago' multiple years in a row! We encourage all experience levels to apply! We also support all interests in vet med and would be happy to expand the services we offer our patients. All our veterinarians are experienced, open to mentoring and collaborating, and supportive of one another.
About our clinic: Metropolitan Veterinary Center is a full-service small animal hospital, offering the best in medical and surgical care. Our hospital is fully equipped with a comprehensive in-house IDEXX lab, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, K-laser, and cornerstone, our electronic medical record software. Any radiographs requiring additional review by a radiologist can be sent out to Antech. We have a trained technician on staff to perform diagnostic abdominal ultrasounds and we utilize the services of a traveling board-certified cardiologist for echocardiograms as needed. We also perform chemotherapy and will be renovating our hospital to add a complete oncology suite to provide additional care and services to more pets in the south loop and surrounding area in need. We have an oxygen cage, an isolation room, and a cat ward, to give our feline patients some privacy. As we all know, parking is a luxury in Chicago, and we are lucky to have our own parking lot for employees and clients.
We perform a variety of routine and advanced soft tissue surgeries. We perform surgeries Monday through Saturday and our new veterinarian will have their own dedicated surgery day each week. Pre-op lab work, IV catheters, and pain management are required for every patient, and they are closely monitored by our amazing support staff. If a patient requires overnight hospitalization, we have a great working relationship with a local emergency clinic, making transfers easy.
The best part of our hospital is our intelligent, hard-working, diverse, and passionate team! We celebrated our 12-year anniversary in February and some of our staff have been here since day one! Our doctors have amazing support, with 2.5 to 3 technicians per doctor and 6 are CVTs. We empower them to do what they are trained to do, which helps our doctors be incredibly efficient.
MetroVet is open 6 days a week and all of our doctors work varied schedules –alternating 3 or 4 day work weeks, offering a great work/life balance and time to explore the amazing city of Chicago! We can be flexible with scheduling with breaks in the morning and afternoon to catch up, as well as time blocked off for lunch each day. Some Saturdays and evenings are required, but there are no on-call or major holiday requirements, and our doctors are all very flexible when it comes to scheduling, so ensuring needed time off is easy. Furthermore, we are so lucky to have Sam, our certified veterinary practice manager, who helps keep things running smoothly every day! She has been with the practice since the beginning and there is no situation she can’t handle. You can learn more about our practice at www.metrovetchicago.com.
Whether you are a new grad, or an experienced doctor who is feeling stifled in your current job, we are the practice for you! Dr. Anusha Natarajan, our medical director, not only attended advanced mentorship training, but is a Certified Clinical Mentor. She is fully equipped to provide structured mentorship in all areas, extending the chance for new graduates to participate in an extremely structured and rewarding mentorship program. We encourage you to see for yourself what a truly incredible practice we are!
