About Us: Blue Cross Pet Hospital is a well-established practice in Northeast San Fernando Valley, dedicated to providing top-tier veterinary care to our community. Our recently renovated facility features 7 exam rooms, a brand-new surgical suite, a dental suite, and state-of-the-art equipment designed to support comprehensive care. We offer advanced diagnostics and treatments, including a full in-house lab with clotting times and UA SediVue DX Urine sediment analyzer, digital dental radiography, a GE Ultrasound, and a brand-new Class 4 companion laser. Our facility is also equipped with a Snyder ICU heated/air-conditioned oxygen cage, syringe and IV fluid pumps, Tonopen, Cardell monitors with end-tidal CO2, and Doppler blood pressure monitoring.
We exclusively serve small animals and collaborate closely with multiple rescue groups to make a positive impact in our community.
Current Staff/Culture:Team Dynamics: Our team boasts extensive experience in veterinary medicine, with many members having over 30 years in the field. Our low turnover rate reflects our supportive and engaging work environment, where staff longevity averages over 10 years. We prioritize work-life balance with regular team outings and community involvement. Our hospital hours are structured to ensure our staff enjoys personal time, closing at 5:30 pm on weekdays and 2 pm on weekends.
Mentorship: New graduates joining our team benefit from our structured orientation and mentorship program. We have a proven track record of nurturing new grads into exceptional veterinarians, bolstered by our active involvement with rescue groups that enhances our local reputation. We offer 45-minute appointment slots to allow ample time for thorough patient care and learning. You'll never work alone—our practice always has 2-3 doctors on-site, ensuring that pre-appointment case previews and real-time immediate assistance for outpatient cases and surgeries are standard. We prioritize your growth and success, providing whatever you need to thrive. We also ensure a dedicated lunch and catch-up break from 12:00-1:30, offering time for procedures and regrouping. Additional support includes Zoom calls, round table discussions, and Slack group connections with experienced vets, ensuring comprehensive guidance as you transition into your veterinary career.
New Doctor Opportunity: We are seeking a full-time or part-time Associate Veterinarian, and new graduates are welcome to apply! Our standard schedule offers a flexible 4-day work week. You'll typically work 3 weekdays from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, with appointments starting at 9:00 am. We block off the schedule for anesthetic procedures from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and non-anesthetic doctors enjoy a lunch break from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. The last appointment of the day is at 5:00 pm.
On weekends, you’ll work 50% of the shifts, either on Saturday or Sunday, from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. Weekend shifts do not include routine anesthetic procedures, and while we don’t break for lunch, Vetcor provides lunch for the team. The last appointment on weekends is at 1:00 pm. We strive to maintain a set rotating schedule for our doctors but are flexible with switches to accommodate time-off requests.

Other Considerations: At Blue Cross Pet Hospital, we practice at an exceptionally high level of medicine, supported by a team of 4 doctors, each with 35-40 years of experience. We constantly consult with specialists across all areas and swiftly adopt new protocols and medications to ensure the best care for our patients. Our affluent clientele is highly receptive to our recommendations, enabling us to perform a wide range of diagnostics and treatments.
Our support staff is highly trained, and we have 3 licensed technicians, ensuring our doctors can focus solely on their veterinary responsibilities without performing tech work. We frequently receive compliments on our dedicated and professional team. Our associate doctors perform nearly 100% of our surgeries, including complex procedures such as limb amputations, PU surgeries, cherry eye pexy’s, abdominal surgeries, and routine operations. While we handle a great deal of our surgical caseload in-house, we also bring in a mobile surgeon for intricate orthopedic and abdominal surgeries.
We manage our own chemotherapy treatments, guided by oncologists for protocol advice. A mobile internist visits twice weekly for abdominal ultrasounds, and we have access to this specialist six days a week. We also have a mobile cardiologist who performs echocardiograms weekly at our hospital, and an ophthalmologist who provides real-time advice through photo consultations. Additionally, we partner with a veterinary dentist who offers tele-radiography for dental images, often in real-time. For endoscopies, our internist handles the procedure at their location, with clients transporting pets back to us with biopsy samples in hand.
