Solo Select Horses, a premier provider of comprehensive equine services, is seeking a skilled Equine Veterinarian with a strong background in general practice and sports medicine. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, providing a wide range of veterinary care services including lameness evaluation, radiography, preventive care, and a small amount of reproductive work for a performance-driven equine clientele.
Responsibilities:
Lameness & Sports Medicine: Perform thorough lameness evaluations using advanced diagnostic tools including flexion tests, nerve blocks, digital radiography, and ultrasound. Diagnose and treat orthopedic and soft tissue injuries to support athletic performance and soundness.
Diagnostic Imaging: Utilize digital radiography and ultrasound to assess musculoskeletal conditions, particularly in performance and sale horses.
General Equine Healthcare: Deliver routine and preventive care including wellness exams, vaccinations, dental work, deworming, and treatment of common medical conditions.
Reproductive Services: Assist with breeding management if needed during peak season.
Emergency & Urgent Care: Respond to emergencies and provide urgent veterinary care. Be proficient in emergency protocols and maintain calm, professional conduct in high-stress situations.
Client Communication & Education: Build strong client relationships and provide clear, informed recommendations. Educate clients on performance management, preventive health, nutrition, and general care.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with fellow veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless, high-quality veterinary service. Collaborate with specialists when needed.
Requirements:
DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary school.
Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Texas.
Proven experience in equine general practice and lameness/sports medicine.
Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Commitment to continuing education and staying current in equine veterinary advancements.
